Maria is having another busy week. Hot on the heels of the Rio Open last week is the Brasil Open in her home town of S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere wasn\u2019t\u00a0any real recovery time,\u201d admitted Maria. \u201cI just about managed to get some laundry done before getting into things here\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

From clay outdoors to indoors<\/h1>\n

After 11 successful years in Costa do Sauipe, the Brasil Open moved in 2012 to S\u00e3o Paulo, where it was first played at the Complexo Desportivo Const\u00e2ncio Vaz Guimar\u00e3es.<\/p>\n

The ATP World Tour 250 clay-court tournament also moved from outdoors to indoors due to regular wet weather in Sao Paulo in February.<\/p>\n

It is now being held at Gin\u00e1sio do Ibirapuera where local favourite Thomaz Bellucci reached the semi-finals before losing to Argentina\u2019s Federico Delbonis, who ousted Nicholas Almagro in the second round.<\/p>\n

Wild card<\/h2>\n

Thomaz Bellucci<\/p><\/div>\n

\u201cThomaz got a wild card for the tournament and made very good use of his chances,\u201d said Maria. \u201cHe should now get back into the top 100 as a result of his two good runs in Brazil.\u201d<\/p>\n

Top-seeded Tommy Haas had to retire with a shoulder injury while losing 6-3 3-2, to Paolo Lorenzi in the other semi final, saying he felt a lot of pain in his right shoulder when he slammed his racket to the ground in frustration after losing his serve at 3-3 in the first set.<\/p>\n

He kept playing despite needing medical treatment several times, but gave up after going down another break in the second set.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was unfortunate because he really didn\u2019t need to let his frustrations out that way,\u201d noted Maria. \u201cThere\u2019s a lesson in there somewhere, although I do know how it is to be temperamental on the court!\u201d<\/p>\n

Hitting with Renan<\/h2>\n

Maria Bueno and Renan Hanayma<\/p><\/div>\n

Maria enjoyed hitting with Renan Hanayma, who is 17 years old and one of the best juniors in Brazil.<\/p>\n

He lost in qualifying for the ATP tournament and opted out of competing in the junior championships at the Australian Open because he is studying to go to Harvard.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tournament made quite a thing about it, sending a car to pick us up and arranging for the TV to make a small feature of it,\u201d said Maria. \u201cIt was fun!\u201d<\/p>\n

Renan\u2019s mother told Maria that she was an idol of her son\u2019s and that to have the chance to hit with her at Ibirapuera was a dream come true.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hit together unbelievably well and both of us enjoyed it,\u201d said Maria. \u201cI think we\u2019ll be hitting some more over the coming weeks, which will be great.<\/p>\n

A success<\/h2>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not sure what I\u2019ll do with myself once this is all over. It will be back to the daily routine, I suppose, until I start travelling again.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt has been really great having the tennis here in Brazil as it has lifted the profile of the sport ahead of the Olympics in 2016.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s also been good to see our Brazilian players doing so well too, so, all in all, it has all been a great success.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"Federico<\/a>

Federico Delbonis<\/p><\/div>\n

At the last it was Federico Delbonis, ranked 61 in the world, who took the honours at the Brasil Open on Sunday with a three-set success over Italy\u2019s Paolo Lorenzi.<\/p>\n

Delbonis, 23, beat his 114th-ranked rival 4-6 6-3 6-4 to capture his first ATP Tour crown.<\/p>\n

The win saw him fulfil some of the potential he had shown in beating Roger Federer in the Hamburg semi-finals as a qualifier last July.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a\u00a0 close match, a little over two hours on court,\u201d \u00a0said Maria. \u201cAnd not clear until the end who would win.<\/p>\n

\u201cFederico will now be ranked around 45 so this has been a vary good week for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Great SporTV Crew<\/h2>\n

Maria commentated for SporTV all week and, once again,\u00a0showed appreciation for the whole team, who worked long hours to make the transmissions as seamless and as enjoyable as possible.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey are a great team and it, as always, we\u2019ve had a good time working together,\u201d she said. \u201cIt gets a bit tense at times, because we are live on air and things don\u2019t always go to plan but we help each other out and have a good laugh!<\/p>\n
